CITY TOUR OF KRAKOW for accompanying persons – 5th July 2010 Duration: 4 hours Departure: 9 a.m. Return: 1 p.m. KRAKOW – a pearl amongst Polish cities is one of the 12 architectural treasures in the world which are on the first UNESCO World Cultural Heritage list with its architectural complex of the Old City which has survived unchanged since the Middle Ages. Our city sightseeing tour leads through the Royal Route - the most ceremonial route through the city, the route of grand entrances, parades, and funerary processions. It begins with a short walk through Wawel Hill with Crown Treasury that is located in the oldest preserved part of the Castle, the lower part of the Gothic Tower. There are only a few Polish Royal Insignia preserved, nowadays exhibition display the Coronation Sword ‘Szczerbiec’ and Coronation clothes of king Zygmunt August. After visit Treasury you walk down the Kanonicza and Dominikanska streets to Collegium Maius the Jagiellonian University Museum. Collegium Maius is the oldest university edifice in Poland. Its history goes back to the year 1400. Our next stop is the Main Market Square, the natural centre of Kraków, a stage for various minor and major events. The last stop during is the Barbikan one of the few remaining relics of fortifications the city of Kraków. Tour includes: transportation, English speaking guide, entrance tickets to the Crown Treasury and Collegium Maius. |
